Internship Opportunities

KHELS Spring 2022 Internship

The KHELS Spring internship program will target juniors to promote job readiness experience. For approximately 7 weeks, the student-Interns will participate 2-3 days per week after-school at the designated partner site with two days during the week and one day on the weekend for a total of 25 - 30 hours.
Interviews will be conducted starting Monday, March 7th through Friday, March 25th 2022 between 3 & 5:pm. The internship will run from April - May 2022.

The students will interviews as part of the selection process and job readiness experience. The selected students will participate in an internship at Wyckoff House Museum and Success Community Garden for a duration of 7 weeks and will be compensated $15 per hour. Student compensation will be administered through Counseling In Schools.

Tentative Spring 2022 Schedule
March 30 - May 14 (7 weeks) on Wednesdays afterschool and Saturday mornings:
Wednesdays from 3pm - 5pm (3/30, 4/5, 4/13, 4/20, 4/27, 5/4, 5/11)
Saturdays from 10am - 1pm (4/2, 4/2, 4/9, 4/16, 4/23, 4/30, 5/7, 5/14)

In addition to job readiness experience students will also receive Professional Development in the following areas facilitated by East Community Partnership:

Resume development
Public speaking
Sexual Health
Financial Literacy
Email Communication

Wyckoff House Museum (Available spots - 5)

Roles and Responsibilities

Being ON TIME.
Checking and responding to email.
Taking care of the Farm: harvesting vegetables, weeding, watering, composting
Engaging with community members, volunteers and visitors
Participating in weekly workshops
Assisting with the coordination of special events, including the Farmstand, community workshops, seasonal programs and volunteer days.
